ESO Digitization Project

The COPYEK Project, supported by the British Council through the Innovation for African Universities (IAU) program, stands as a transformative initiative uniting KCA University, the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), The University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), and the Association of Startups and SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK). With a profound aim to instill a vibrant culture of entrepreneurship among Kenya’s youth, COPYEK aspires to empower the next generation of trailblazing entrepreneurs.

This visionary project seeks not only to foster transformative business ideas but also to catalyse their evolution into thriving ventures. With a dual focus on contributing to sustainable economic growth and addressing societal challenges, COPYEK is a beacon for propelling innovation and nurturing the spirit of enterprise within Kenya’s dynamic youth demographic.

The cornerstone of the COPYEK Project materialized in the form of an intensive Innovators’ Boot Camp, meticulously organized by Nakuru Box Innovation Centre and the Association of Startups and SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK). This three-day immersive training program, held from October 25th to October 27th, 2023, at KCA University, was strategically designed to equip young entrepreneurs with indispensable skills. These skills include Business Plan Development, Business Model Canvas creation, mastering the Art of Storytelling and Pitching, and adeptly preparing pitch decks.

The Nakuru Box team, contracted by ASSEK, seamlessly executed the preparatory activities following an inception meeting on October 23rd, 2023. This meeting laid the foundation for a harmonized scope of work and defined timelines for deliverables. The careful needs assessment survey that ensued aimed to comprehend the unique requirements and expectations of the participating entrepreneurs.

The grand culmination of the boot camp manifested in a dynamic one-day pitching competition during the KCA Innovation Week on October 31st, 2023. Marking the closure of the short-term capacity-building assignment, this competition showcased the practical application of the knowledge and skills imparted during the boot camp.
